The food industry is a vast industry. It is an industry that involves good preparation of food, right quality food ingredients, customer retention or customer loyalty programs, quick supply chain management tactics, digital techniques for online food ordering apps, consumer habits and preferences, and a lot more.

We cannot put the entire scene of the food industry into a single frame unless we are talking about a particular food segment.

Therefore, today I am going to talk about the remarkable food industry segment, and it is changing dynamics from consumer habits to advanced technology. And that is none other than the restaurant or food outlet industry.

Changing Dynamics of a Restaurant Industry

When we dig deep about the restaurant industry on various platforms, we get to know about a Persian ‘Boullion seller’ named Boulanger- who introduced the first modern restaurant approximately 255 years ago.

Isn’t it exciting to see that the restaurant did exist 200–250 years before? From an introduction to a trendy restaurant in the 17th century to the 2020 online food ordering solutions- food industry dynamics has been drastically changed.

Earlier back in the 18th and 19th century the concept of modern or commercial restaurants was not fully appreciated.

People started making recipes at home and were also inviting others to taste the same.

They started developing a small group of people who were invited for the exceptional food meal or recipe tasting. If they like it, they used to order the same recipe for their guests as well.

Hence, we can say that the food or the recipe concept was not 100% commercialized. The scope of earning was limited.

Fully Modern Restaurants

Rome and Paris introduced the concept of thoroughly modern restaurants. The Persians and Europeans were the first one to get the advantage of the fully trendy restaurants that were accompanied with waiter service and a fully descriptive meal menu.

After that, let us talk about current food outlets or restaurants that are best known for serving different kinds of cuisines under a single roof.

Well, in India, the state of Gujarat is highly famous for doing many different types of cooking with perfection.

The state is said to be recognized for a various variety of Gujarati dishes along with many restaurant brands that make multi-cuisine easy and straightforward for family dinners and parties.

Tele Food Ordering Menu

The telephonic food ordering system got famous for those who were unable to visit the food outlet for enjoying the luxuries of a modern restaurant.

With the introduction of the telephone came the introduction of the-food ordering service where either pick up, or food delivery was possible for keeping in mind the comfort of the customers.

Dine-in Table Booking System

The dine-in table booking system was introduced with a gesture to make customers feel comfortable with their guests while arriving at the restaurant.

The concept became famous when restaurants were fully commercialised, and the guests had to wait in the queue for a few minutes to one hour for finding an empty table at their favourite restaurant.

Indeed, a revolution for estimating the total number of guests or tables that are going to be occupied on a particular day/date.

Customer Loyalty Programs

The introduction of customer loyalty programs was designed by different restaurant and multi-chain restaurant owners to retain their customers.

For the same, many customer benefits were intended to make sure that the customer visits their outlet over and again.

Restaurant membership program, discounts, and coupons, etc. were few of the attributes of the customer loyalty program.

Online Food Delivery App

Now, this is something big! A digital food transformation is changing the dynamics of the food industry forever.

Have you heard about ‘World Wide Waiter’ that was founded in the year 1995? Well, it was the first online food delivery service that was introduced way back in California.

Currently, in 2020, every country has major 10–15 food delivery app giants serving with their brilliant and swift food delivery service across different cities and locations.

To make the food delivery process more functional and operative, the restaurant outlet owner develops three different apps for three other panels- customer, outlet owner, and driver.

It makes food delivery experience swifter and more manageable.

Apart from online food delivery applications, these giants have also introduced various new payment methods for serving the customers with ease without having them worried about which payment method will be readily acceptable!

Currently, many restaurants in the world have introduced robots as waiters for serving food to dine-in customers. Well, technology will always keep us surprising and mesmerizing. Isn’t it?
